This is my last report as Bowls Director. Ray Linabury will be the new Director for Bowls. A number of you would already know Ray well. I wish him all the best and I’m sure he will contribute immensely to both the Board and all Bowling members.

Due to COVID-19 staffing restrictions, Bowls had to move their main competition day from Monday to Wednesday. This saw a significant drop off in members being able to play. Fortunately, we now have Mondays back and numbers have improved. Night Bowls on Tuesday and Friday bowls have also seen good numbers. The top green is now back in use after a full renovation. The bottom green is undertaking a light renovation and should be back in use in January.

The appointment of the casual position of Bowls Co-ordinator has been finalised. Sam Curtis will undertake this role as from the first week in December. Sam has many contacts in the Bowling scene including many local contacts, having lived in the area most of her life.
Our two Pennant teams are programmed to travel to Dubbo and Warilla at the end of March 2022. The State Pairs final is also due to take place at Ettalong in March 2022.

Bowls Presentation Day is to be held on the 11th December 2021.

In my role as Bowls Director, I feel strongly about the future of Mufti-Bowls as being the next revenue stream for the Club. Already we see Byron Bay, Pottsville, Kingscliff and Yamba bowling clubs take advantage by establishing their Clubs as family friendly environments. I believe that along with improving lighting on the top green at the very least, we also need to continue to improve our facilities and offer a family friendly environment for all.

Thanks for your co-operation and support over the past two years.
